Hey,
Forgiving someone doesn't mean you're okay with what happened. It doesn't mean you owe them another chance, or that the hurt wasn't real. None of that.
A lot of people carry forgiveness like a burden. They forgive someone and then feel confused when the anger comes back. Or they forgive and still feel the need to protect themselves, then wonder if they actually forgave at all. They did. Protecting yourself and forgiving someone can exist at the same time.
Forgiving someone can be a completely private thing. It doesn't need a conversation, a hug, or a moment of closure. Sometimes you forgive people in your own heart, quietly, just so you're not the one still holding the weight. You do it for you. Full stop.
Being a forgiving person doesn't mean you're easy to walk on. Forgiveness is something you give. Your time, your trust, your space, those are things you choose. You learned something, and you're applying it.
There's also no deadline on forgiveness. Some people need years. Some forgive in pieces. Some forgiveness never fully arrives, and that's okay too.

A Little Note From Me:
I used to think forgiving fast meant I was the bigger person. But sometimes I was just skipping over the part where I actually felt what happened. Real forgiveness usually comes after you've been honest about the damage. You don't have to rush to get there. Being a forgiving person just means you're not letting what they did have permanent damage in your peace.
